Gjergj Jozef Kola was born in Shkodra, Albania, and emigrated to Austria in the 1990s.

He studied German language and pedagogy at the University of Graz, and now lives in Vienna with his family, where he works in the field of education.

A prolific writer, Kola is the author of more than ten novels, five collections of poetry, and over seventy plays. His theatrical works have been staged in Austria, Germany, and North Macedonia, and his writings have been published in Albanian, German, Italian, and English.

Deeply engaged in cultural life, he is also a tireless promoter of Albanian literature in the world, regularly curating literary events in Vienna that bring together authors from Albania and abroad.
